🌍 5 Things I’ve Changed Since Going Sustainable 🌿✨

When I first started learning about sustainable fashion, I thought I had to get everything just right. I assumed it meant a wardrobe of expensive, ethically made pieces, or getting rid of everything “fast fashion.”

But over time, I realized that sustainability isn’t about perfection—it’s about intention.

So today, in honor of Earth Month, I’m sharing 5 simple shifts I’ve made since starting my sustainable style journey. These aren’t revolutionary, but they are real. And they’ve helped me build a closet I love—without compromising my values or the planet. 🌎💚

1. I Stopped Chasing Trends

Fast fashion thrives on convincing us we need a “new look” every few weeks. Once I stepped back and defined my style—not the algorithm’s—I started buying less and loving more.
Now, I save inspiration for timeless pieces and re-wear old favorites in new ways.

2. I Shop Secondhand First

Thrifting used to feel overwhelming. Now, it’s one of my favorite ways to find unique, high-quality pieces without the environmental cost.
Whether it’s local consignment shops or online platforms, I always check secondhand before buying new.

3. I Care for Clothes Differently

I used to over-wash everything. Now? I air-dry most items, wash only when needed, and store my knits properly. These small habits help my clothes last so much longer—and feel better, too.

4. I Embrace Outfit Repeating

This one was huge. For a while, I worried about “wearing the same thing twice” in photos or events. But now? I celebrate outfit repeating.
It’s a quiet rebellion against overconsumption—and it actually made getting dressed more fun.

5. I Ask Better Questions Before Buying

Before any purchase, I pause and ask:
✔️ Will I wear this at least 30 times?
✔️ Does it go with what I already own?
✔️ Do I truly love it?
If the answer isn’t a clear yes, I walk away. No regrets.

🌸 Final Thoughts

Going sustainable doesn’t mean being perfect. It’s a process—a mindset shift. And honestly, it’s made my relationship with fashion more personal and more joyful. 💖♻️

This Earth Month, I encourage you to reflect on your habits. Even small changes can make a big impact. 🌿✨

And if you’re just starting out? Welcome. You’re right on time. 🤗🌎

These are great tips! I’m definitely going to start asking myself if I’ll wear an item 30 times before I purchase it. One change I made recently was limiting myself to a smaller color palette for my main wardrobe, this has helped me buy less (if it’s not available in one of my capsule colors I pass) and it helps me to choose things that work well together.

Having a color palette is a great way to reduce spending and make it easier to have a capsule wardrobe. The best part is not having to figure out what matches! Everything goes together!
